What is the pros and cons between running a 5w40 vs a 10w40? Both are fully synthetic. Also who do you guys think makes the best oil filters? I have ran K&N in the past in other quads but have heard that WIX is better?? Any thoughts are much appreciated!! Overall, if you live in cold weather areas, the 10W30 is the best option for you. In such a climate, the engine oil only has to deal with heat from the engine and not the environment. This oil is also ideal for reducing excessive engine temperatures and drag as the engine heats up in the cold weather. The 10W30 is a more common oil than the 10W40. The reason for that is the way viscosity works. 10w30 and 10w40 motor oils both have very different viscosities, which means that it is difficult for them to mix.
